5 Tips for a Successful Semester

Spring Semester is upon us, and this is a great chance for a fresh start! New classes, new teachers, and new schedules! Here are 5 tips to start the semester off right:

1. Determine Goals: It is important to start with a goal in mind; something to work towards whether it be graduation or simply to pass a class. It is also important to set realistic goals. Setting goals that are attainable will leave you with a feeling of success and accomplishment. So reach for the stars, but make sure you have a ladder first.

2. Be Organized: We all know organizational skills go down the drain half-way through the semester. It is easier to stay organized when you start off the semester establishing good organizational techniques. Separate your classes into different binders, and invest in a planner to record homework assignments and important dates. These will become your life-lines just a few weeks into classes!

3. Take Care of Yourself: Make sure to get adequate sleep
and eat well-balanced and healthy meals. This will help keep your immune system strong and ready to face all those all-nighters and meals from the POD on tough nights throughout the semester!

4. Get to Know Your Professors: Take the time to meet your professors and attend their office hours. The more you put into a class, the more you will get out of it. Your professors really are there to help you, and the more effort they see you put into their class, the more willing they will be to help you out!

5. Get Involved: Take this new start as an opportunity to check out new clubs and organizations on campus. This is a fresh start and a great time to join a new group and add those transferable skills and experience to your resume (all the while meeting new people and making new friends)!
