Yes, finals
are almost upon us. And yes, you have to take them. Studying can be grueling if
you don’t know how. Here are some science-backed tips on how to study:
Break it up.
It’s called “space repetition”. Don’t try and study for one class’ exam in one
sitting. Spread it out into chunks, and learn the chunks. In between, you can
take breaks or…
Switch it
up. Study for several different classes in one sitting (making sure to split
into chunks). This will not only make it easier to stay alert and focused, but
also prepares you to be able to strategically think and problem-solve.
Move around.
Don’t sit in the same place and study for the same thing. Scientific research
suggests that studying the same material in multiple places forces the brain to
make new, different associations. This creates a stronger memory of the
material and makes it less likely to forget.
